Although it's an easy process, it's not painless. First there's the smell. The manual for the stove actually warns that the fumes can be dangerous for small birds and that they should be moved to a well-ventilated room. Not sure how this translates to humans, but if I had a baby in the house, I would not be using the self-cleaning oven.

Ah, blessed silence.
Until the first second I turned my back on it. More shrieking.
For a second I thought it was possessed. Then I remembered the back up battery. I couldn't take that sucker out fast enough.
Ah, blessed silence. Well, except for the fans.
And now I'm thinking about moving to a well-ventilated area of the house...

I need one of those self-cleaning ovens. Push a button, I can do that. Scrub the oven insides - Not.
ReplyDeleteAh, the joys of smoke detectors! The way my apartment is set up, there is no ventilation in the kitchen, so even when the fan is on, you are likely to set off the smoke detector when trying to bake a pizza, use the broiler, or make something as mundane as a grilled cheese. Gotta love it! ;)
ReplyDeleteDru, it's nice. No scrubbing (well, hardly any scrubbing) involved. I cook almost every night, so my oven gets messy!
ReplyDeleteLOL, Heather. Ours is always going off too. I guess it's a good thing--if there's ever a real fire.
Oh, you mean it's SUPPOSED to be like that with a self cleaning oven?? I thought there was something wrong with mine...
ReplyDeleteIt's awful, Shel, isn't it? Only thing worse might be cleaning it by hand. Yikes!
