I was surprised when I went out this morning to find a small dusting (a 1/2" if that) of snow on the ground. Not normally an issue, but it was when I was backing down the driveway that I noticed the snow. I definitely needed to shovel when I came back, especially since it's supposed to be a high of 21 degrees today.
This is the downfall of having a steep driveway. If the snow isn't removed, and there's no chance of melting, then it will be a sheet of ice within hours. Ice = no parking in the nice warm (relatively) garage = me in a panic to prevent ice from forming. Can you blame me? It's currently 16 degrees and there's a mighty cold wind chill = me freezing to death while I shoveled = me still defrosting under a blanket an hour later. There's not enough hot coffee in the world right now.
The snow is pretty, though, and my mission was accomplished = I made it up the driveway just fine. Next time I hope Mr. W is home when the snow falls!
I did get some snow salt at the grocery for these times. Luckily my DH is able to be home every morning and do it before I head out for the day.
ReplyDeleteYesterday, I shoveled by drive- it took about an hour. Then, I hired a plow. I don't want to that all winter-although it is good exercise.
ReplyDeleteI am ready for summer. I hate the cold!!!! We pay our 12 year old to do the shoveling! Our 9 year old is jealous and wishes she could do it so I figure we can let them take turns.
ReplyDeleteWhy is everyone getting snow except me? Why?
ReplyDeleteWe might get snow flurries Saturday night! It will be fun if we do because I'm going to a Christmas party w/ hayrack rides and caroling outside so it will make for a pretty night.
ReplyDeleteA couple of weeks ago we got our first snow flurries. Big, huge snow flakes, so pretty to watch out my window at work.
All that work, then the sun came out and melted everything anyway. Sheesh!
ReplyDeleteI hear more snow is coming for the weekend--Dru, I hope it makes its way to you!
Anyone else love watching snowflakes melt on the windshield? Mesmerizing.
No snow here in San Diego. But, we do get snow in our local mountains maybe a couple of times a year. When that happens, everyone in San Diego wants to see the snow, and the local mountain towns love it because they get a lot of business during those few days of the year.
ReplyDeleteyou just got snow??? We've had snow since December 1st and every day since...thought it only amounted to 3 inches or so total and is kind of going away.
