Lately I've been working on a new book. It's a book a lot like the Lucy Valentine series in that it's Hard To Describe. What's with me and books that I can't narrow down into a two line pitch? This book has gone through a couple of reincarnations, with these last revisions on the proposal hopefully the final time I'll have to change location. Or motive. Or conflict. Or anything (ha! wouldn't that be nice?). We'll see. I'm sending the proposal to my agent in a couple of days for an honest, all-out critique, so cross your fingers, okay?
Now, I'm not going to tell much about the book, because I do believe in jinxing and all that good stuff, but I'll say that it's set in the deep South (fictional Alabama town), there's a very important diamond involved, there's a family curse (love those family curses!) and lies, lies, lies. Lots and lots of lies. Oh, and secrets. Those too. The working title is "The Diamond Book." LOL--original, no?
I love when a book starts to take over my life. I'm constantly thinking about it. Hearing snatches of dialogue at a stop light, when I drift off to sleep, as I make dinner... I'm thinking ahead to plot points, to twists and turns, to resolutions. I care deeply about my main character and want her to have a her own version of a happily-ever-after. All these things are good signs when I'm writing a book--because when this doesn't happen when is when I know that the story isn't good.
This book, again, is a lot like the Lucy books in that it has a bit of mystery, a bit of romance, and a bit of paranormal (the curse!). I have high hopes for it, so wish me luck, okay?

I'll take those good vibes! I need them. And for some reason I spent most of yesterday thinking it was Thursday. What's up with that?
