-I had a great time in Chicago. It was a long (rainy) day, but I met lots of new people and was able to catch up with some old friends.
-Pros and Cons of driving through Indiana:
Pros:
*Gorgeous landscapes
*70 mile an hour speed limit
*Oddly mesmerizing wind turbines
Cons:
*Construction zones!
*One slightly scary rest stop where there were urinals in the women's room (!!!)
*Oddly mesmerizing wind turbines (not so good to be mesmerized while driving 70 mph)
-Though Massachusetts drivers get a bad rap (deservingly) I'm so glad I learned how to drive there. It has prepared me for cities like Chicago, so navigation through congested one-way streets doesn't faze me all that much.
-What fazed me was the monsoon in southern Indiana. Egad. Nothing like torrential rain to slow down a road trip. (My car did need a good washing, so that was one silver lining to the storm.)
-I'm the featured author at B&N mystery book club this week, talking mostly about my Nina Quinn series and some about Lucy Valentine too. I hope I can talk some of my friends into joining me as well. Come on over, say hi, ask some questions.
-Back into the writing swing of things this week. I'm almost done with my diamond book proposal and already thinking of my next project... There's rarely a lack of ideas bouncing around my brain--it's just a matter of getting them down on paper.
-There was a deer sighted in my neighborhood this weekend, just standing in middle of the street... And I MISSED it. I hope it comes back...
Do you have any big plans this week?
Sounds like you had a good time with both pros and cons.
ReplyDeleteRe 70mph...I realize that maybe there's a reason I don't drive, whenever I see the speedometer near the number 70...I close my eyes.
No big plans for this week. I'm going to enjoy my day off today before I go back to the office tomorrow.
Have a great Monday.
Boy, Heather. I didn't even realize you were in chicago all weekend! You are one very busy gal.
ReplyDeletePlans for the week? I'm writing, of course. And trying to convince my son to go out to dinner with me.
Sounds like the trip went well. Glad you're home safe and sound. Have a great week.

Thoughts in Progress
Glad your safe and sound! Back to work is my big plans:)
ReplyDeleteUh, Dru, then you probably wouldn't like driving with me! I have a bit of a lead foot. I use cruise control a lot so I don't go too fast. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Shelley! Too busy lately. I need more time in a day. Good luck with the dinner. Bribing sometimes works!
It did, MC, despite the rain. It's thundering here now, but the sun is out... I love sun showers so I'm kinda hoping it will rain.
Hi Tonya! That's a good plan. I'm crossing fingers you'll hear good things from agents soon.
And thanks Dru and Tonya for coming over to B&N!
Husband's going backpacking with oldest boys and I'm teaching a college essay seminar. Other than that... WRITING! And cleaning. Notice no caps on the cleaning as I'm losing my enthusiasm for that particular task.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a great trip!
