A new year, a new decade. A true beginning. It's definitely a time for resolutions, though I keep waffling on whether to make any specific ones. All I know is that I'm glad that 2009 is almost over. It was a rough year for me in a lot of ways, and I'm ready for a new beginning.
One of my favorite prayers is the Serenity Prayer. I'm thinking this year it might have to be my ultimate resolution:
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
This works for me with work, with family, with friends, with my health. Now all I have to do is actually take it to heart and put it into action.
Happy New Year to all of you--may it bring you health, happiness, lots of love, and lots of good books, too!
Have you made any resolutions? Or resolved not to make any?
I love your serenity prayer idea for a resolution, Heather. I made resolutions for myself in July, so I'm still trying to keep those.

Elizabeth
I'm not making any resolutions this year, but a friend recommended doing a monthly resolution and I like that. I now have to think of the first one.

I just came up a list of goals (not resolutions) over at my blog. However, I much prefer your Serenity Prayer idea.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Heather!
I like the idea of half year resolutions, Elizabeth. I might be more likely to keep those!
ReplyDeleteDru, have you come up with any yet? Surely not read more books!
Happy New Year to you, too, Annette. I think one of your resolutions should be "No More Shoveling Snow!" Ah, if only, right?
