St. Martin's is still working on perfecting the Truly, Madly cover. Do you like the old or the new version? (You can click to enlarge the pics.)
Old New
The new one didn't scan as well, because the title and all the vines are embossed (very cool). I think I like the new one better though I'm not sure about Lucy peeking out of the doorway. What do you think? Would love to hear what you have to say.
I like the "new" cover better. There's comething about the extra or placement of the text that makes it more appealing.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even notice Lucy peeking out the door until you said it.
I really like the new text and Lucy in the door, but I like the pink on the old cover. But on the whole I'd say the new...
ReplyDeleteI like the original - I really don't like when the main character is added to the cover of a book - I'm not sure why. I guess I like to read the way the author describes a character and then "see" the character for myself - I know I'm not explaining this well, sorry.
ReplyDeleteI like the new cover better. The title stands out more and the color of the door is less cartoon-ish. Something about that shade of pink just didn't work for me.
ReplyDeleteYou can't see it, but I'm shrugging.
ReplyDeleteI like the new cover but I like the pink door color.
ReplyDeleteWhat about that: new cover minus Lucy? Somehow she distracts me...
ReplyDeletenew -- definitely -- it's not as 'rosy colored', which makes me think of rose colored glasses, plus the transparent window panes that reveal a hint of the inside -- the warm yellow, the profile view of a woman reaching for the door (is she arriving or leaving?) visually draw the eye in more directly and keep it there longer.
ReplyDeleteLucy looking out gives the cover life. I like "new."
ReplyDeleteI like the old one
ReplyDeletehi heather!
ReplyDeleteI like the new cover. I like the new tag line and Lucy peeking out. This is exciting!

Thanks, everyone. You've been really helpful. I'll pass along comments to the publisher & I guess we'll have to see what the final cover is!
