I can't believe that summer is already winding down. The kids go back to school in less than three weeks. It should be time to start thinking about school clothes and supplies and schedules and locker decorations, but in my mind, I'm saying, "Whoa!"
Where did summer go?
Hard to believe the kids have been out of school for almost two months. It doesn't feel like it. It feels like a blip. A week, two. Part of this, I think, is because of the crazy weather this summer. Mass amounts of rain. Three days in the 90s. THREE. Last year we probably had twenty days (or more) of 90* weather. By August, our lawn is toast. This year it is a vibrant green. We're enjoying the cooler temps, definitely, but it doesn't feel like summer. There have been no trips to the pool, no hanging out in the basement to beat the heat.
There are still three weeks left. And if forecasters are correct, it will be in the 90s this weekend. So maybe we'll get that summer feeling after all.
Just in time to hit the air conditioned mall for school clothes...
I think mother nature and the schools are working together just so that we'll spend all our time in air-conditioned malls.
